About the Speaker: Bob Armstrong, C.I.T.P., was appointed President of Supply Chain & Logistics Association Canada on November 1, 2007. Bob has over 35 years of experience in the fields of Global Supply Chain, International Trade, Cross Border Logistics and Customs Regulations and procedures. He also served as President & CEO for the Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters Inc. for 9 years and as President of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers of Canada (AIAMC) for 9 years. He is also active on the Board of Directors for 6 different industry Associations such as FITT, IECanada, and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Advisory Committee to the Greater Toronto Transportation Authority. In May 2005, Mr. Armstrong was awarded the prestigious McMillan Binch Mendelsohn Canadian Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Canada and to Canada’s advancement in International Trade.
ALEX GRAY,
AVP Trade and Supply Chain, HSBC Bank Canada
About the Speaker: Alex Gray has been with the HSBC Group for 19 years primarily in Asia with a focus on Trade. This included roles in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, India, the Philippines and 4 years in Hong Kong. Alex also spent 2 years working in the HSBC Group’s Training Centre in the UK where he was the Group Training Manager. This involved training his colleagues around the world in one of HSBC’s core business on which it was founded, Trade. Alex arrived in January 2007 to his current role, having been the Head of Trade in HSBC Taiwan for 2 years. The extensive experience in Asian Trade and especially in Taiwan gave Alex a particular insight into the Mainland China market involving regular business trips where a large proportion of Taiwanese business has based its manufacturing facilities.
PHILIPPE LACAMP,
Vice President Canada, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd.
About the Speaker: Philippe Lacamp oversees all aspects of Cathay Pacific Airways’ operations in Canada. He joined the Swire Group, Cathay Pacific’s largest shareholder, in 1992. Lacamp has held a number of international senior management positions with Cathay Pacific including Country Manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives, from 1998 to 1999 and Country Manager of France, Spain, and Portugal from 2001 to 2004. He moved to Vancouver in 2004 where he has worked to raise the profile of the Canadian operation which has grown significantly over 25 years when it pioneered long-haul transpacific service with its first non-stop flight between Vancouver and Hong Kong. Today, Canada plays an important role in the success of Cathay Pacific’s worldwide operations with a strong presence on both East and West Coasts.
In their presentations to HKCBA, they will all share their extensive experience and provide numerous tips on how best to approach the China market in the realm of the Trade and Logistics industry. Meanwhile, they will also provide insights and forecasts of the future trends of the Mainland China market and how to successfuly stay sustainable in China.
