Members from the Sing Tao editorial and management team at the Jack Webster Awards Gala.
Sing Tao Daily leads the way in editorial quality and in-depth reporting. At the 2008 Jack Webster Awards on November 6, its BC edition was awarded “Best Reporting – Chinese Language” for the series on “Disaster of the Century: 5.12 Sichuan Earthquake”.
Sing Tao Daily’s General Manager (Western Canada) Calvin Wong remarked that “this award not only recognized the efforts of the local editorial team, but also applauded the achievement of the Sing Tao editorial team worldwide! During the whole period of this tragedy, Sing Tao had published an average of ten full pages of in depth reporting daily, coupled with extraordinary layout of endless striking photographs to keep the community and its readers informed of the latest happenings, and aroused their sympathies in extending a helping hand for the victims in need.”
Besides the above winning features, Sing Tao has continued to produce distinguished reporting and coverage on topics such as the Beijing Olympics, the US and Canada’s national elections, and the world’s economic and financial crisis. “This award has provided us with so much encouragement. We will strive to do our very to best to thank our readers who had supported us during our 25 years of outstanding news and community service to British Columbia!”
The Jack Webster Foundation provides reward and recognition to the best journalism in the province, setting and raising standards across the entire media spectrum.
