The Vancouver Section of the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association is pleased to host Bridgitte Anderson, General Manager and Rhea Dubois-Phillips, Vice President, Corporate Communications of Edelman Vancouver at our upcoming HKCBA Keynote Luncheon on May 2, 2016 to discuss the Edelman Trust Barometer. 
 
The 2016 Edelman Trust Barometer explores the state of trust in Canada, Hong Kong and China among four institutions - business, government, media and NGOs.
 
The results will reveal how a global trust gap is emerging between elite and mass population and the classic pyramid of influence has flipped, with peer-to-peer discussions overtaking the influence of elites.  The research will also highlight who are the most trusted sources of information and show how businesses and CEOs can build trust while still fulfilling a mandate to create value. 

Speakers' Biography:

Bridgitte Anderson, General Manager, Edelman Vancouver

 As General Manager of Edelman Vancouver, Bridgitte brings nearly 30 years of extensive client service, strategic communications, public affairs, stakeholder relations and media experience to the role.  media and public affairs experience to the role.  She is an award- winning former journalist and also served as Press Secretary to BC Premier Gordon Campbell. 

Previously at Edelman, Bridgitte led the Corporate Communications practice at Edelman and was part of Canada’s crisis and issues management team.  She has provided strategic communications counsel, corporate reputation management, public affairs, media training and media relations to clients such as Vancouver Airport Authority, Coast Capital Savings, Chevron, Vantage Airport Group and the Industry Training Authority.  She has also media trained numerous CEOs and executives for organizations such as Western Financial Group, Travel Alberta, Cathay Pacific Airlines and Pembina Pipeline Corporation.   

Previously, Bridgitte was a local and national news anchor and reporter at CTV and BNN, providing coverage on international, national and provincial issues, major stock market and political stories. 

As a core member of Premier Campbell’s strategic advisory group, Bridgitte dealt with numerous issues and crises including the introduction of the HST, the Carbon Tax and daily issues that arose during the 2009 BC Election.  She traveled extensively with the Premier, providing key communications advice on several national and overseas missions with other Canadian Premiers and the Prime Minister. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Bridgitte was the Premier’s media contact for journalists from around the world. 

Bridgitte holds a Broadcast Journalist Diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and has earned the IAP2 Certificate in Public Participation. She is also a frequent media commentator, appearing on radio and TV where she provides insight into current affairs and communications issues.

Bridgitte is Vice-Chair of the Women’s Leadership Circle at the Vancouver Board of Trade and also volunteers at The Forum for Women Entrepreneurs (FWE) and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

 Rhea Dubois-Phillips, Vice President, Corporate Communications

A native Vancouverite, Rhea spent 15 years in Asia as a senior Corporate and Financial Communications consultant, including almost nine years with Edelman’s Asia practice. As part of Edelman’s Hong Kong office, Rhea provided senior level and C-suite counsel in Corporate and Financial communications for clients such as Soho China, AsiaSat, Lehman Brothers, Microsoft, ING IM, LG Phillips LCD, and Shui On Land. Subsequently, Rhea joined the regional team to focus on the firm’s intellectual capital resources, driving initiatives such as the APAC Stakeholder Survey and annual Trust Barometer. Prior to joining Edelman, she was a Director of Public and Investor Relations for several satellite companies across the region. During her 15 years in Asia, she has lived and worked in Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul and Hong Kong. Rhea returned to Vancouver in 2011. Rhea holds a Master’s degree in English from the University of London, a diploma in French from Universite de Paris V, Sorbonne, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from the University of British Columbia.
